Our clinic operates an appointment system, which we strongly encourage you use. Please call the receptionist at our clinic to book an appointment. If you are unable to keep your booked appointment, please telephone our receptionists. A non-attendance fee will apply for appointments not cancelled.
New patients are welcome. Patients without appointments will be seen, however there may be a wait.
Please let the receptionist know when you book, if you require a surgical procedure, life insurance, sports medical examination etc. Longer appointments are available on request, subject to requirements and approval by the Doctor.
After Hours Services
Our after-hours services are:

Monday to Thursday 6pm to 8pm
Sat, Sun & Public Holidays 8 am to 6 pm
We understand that you may be unwell, stressed or anxious. Our Practice has a zero-tolerance policy towards violence and will not tolerate verbal or physical threats made towards members of the staff or General Practitioners.
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this Practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.
Continuity of Care
Please allow 2 or more days for the Doctor to receive test results. Patients are encouraged to follow up their test results with an Appointment with their regular Doctor.
Depending on the urgency of the result, our friendly Practice Nurses will be in touch to make a Recall Appointment to see the Doctor if required.
Access for people with disabilities is available.
Hindmarsh Bowden Health welcomes all feedback in our endeavor to provide our patients with continued quality service. All feedback is taken seriously and handled with strict privacy and can be provided direct to the Practice by calling (08) 8417 7700 or in writing sent to 334 Port Road, Hindmarsh SA 5007.
This Practice is a Mixed Billing Practice. All DVA Card Holders and Government Funded Childhood Immunisations are Bulk Billed. Fees will apply to all other patients, and also for extra services such as Mirena Insertions, Blood Pressure Monitoring, and Minor Procedures.

Full payment is required at the end of the Consultation and can be made using Cash or Credit Card. The Medicare Rebate can be instantly deposited onto a Savings or Debit Card, or claim sent to Medicare with the rebate being received into the patient’s nominated bank account within 48 hours.

Home visits are available for regular patients of the practice. These visits usually require considerable time away from the Practice by the Doctor and a fee will in general be charged. Should a doctor not be available to call after hours, a Locum Doctor visit will be arranged.
Mobile phone use is permitted however we request telephone calls are taken outside.
Overseas Students and Visitors
We direct bill AHM, Medibank OSHC and Allianz Global Assistance student members. Gap fees apply. All other overseas visitors are welcome to our Practice. Please speak to our Reception Staff regarding the fees that apply.
This Practice is bound by the Federal Privacy Act 1998 and National Privacy Principles. ‘Personal health information’ is a subset of personal information and can include any information collected to provide a health service.
This information includes medical details, family information, name, address, employment, demographic data, past medical and social history, current health issues, future medical care, Medicare number, account details and any health information such as a medical opinion about a person’s heath, disability or health status.
It includes the formal medical record, whether written or electronic, and information held or recorded on any other medium such as letters, faxes and information conveyed verbally.
For each patient, we have an individual electronic patient health record containing all clinical information held by our Practice relating to that patient. The Practice ensures the protection of all information contained therein. Our patient health records can be accessed by an appropriate team member when required.
Doctor’s and all other staff and contractors associated with the Practice have a responsibility to maintain the privacy of personal health information and related financial information. The privacy of this information is every patient’s right.
Our Practice has a computerised reminder system for specific recalls.
Sickness Certificates, Repeat Prescriptions and Referrals
Sickness Certificates, repeat prescriptions and referrals require a consult unless previously organised with the Doctor. Fees apply. Please be aware that the Doctors are unable to back date medical certificates and referrals.
A non-smoking policy exists throughout our clinic.
All Government Childhood & Adolescent/Adult Schedule vaccines are available and free of charge. Ongoing school program vaccinations are also available.
Flu Vax, Tetanus, Pneumovax, Hepatitis A & B, Depo Ralovera and Whooping Cough (pertussis) vaccines can be arranged.
Travel vaccination advice is available and a limited range of vaccines are available. A fee may apply.
